With almost 300 days of sunshine a year, South Tyrol also offers the right climate for orchids, which is sometimes almost Mediterranean. It takes up to 4-5 years for an orchid to bloom, and this entire process can be witnessed in Gargazon, where the orchid world is located.
The family business has set itself the goal of growing and selling orchids of the highest quality, but also of bringing the "queen of all flowers" closer to visitors.
Here, the orchid becomes an experience that can also be felt and touched at information stations.
There is also a lake landscape with koi, the tropical villa, an adventure playground and the ORCHIDEA, making the visit a real family outing. The rooms are also available for events. In the fall, part of the exhibition revolves around pumpkins.
By the way: the orchids on offer are those that flower for a long time, have beautiful leaves and colors and are strong. The concept of the South Tyrolean orchid has evolved from this: Today, 300 of the more than 30,000 existing species can be admired and purchased.
And how can the Orchid World be reached? It is located along the state road in Gargazon, on the left-hand side towards Merano, around 2 km before the village itself. There are plenty of parking spaces available.
