Because of its dark water, the Ilz is often called "The Black Pearl". It has its source in the heart of the Bavarian Forest National Park. From Fürsteneck to Passau, the Ilz is a wonderful river for canoeing.

Without any annoying obstacles in the form of weirs. One of the last natural rivers in Bavaria, on the edge of the Bavarian Forest National Park.
