Absolutely not to be missed is the thrill of crossing the Tibetan bridges in Alta Valtellina near the Forni glacier, amid powerful sound of waterfalls and views of unforgettable sights.
An evocative and exciting passage, a bridge that connects History and takes us back to its very ancient origins.
The Tibetan bridge originated in the Himalayas, the region with the highest mountains in the world, as a connecting structure consisting of a rope that serves as a sidewalk and two lateral ropes/runners, about a meter apart.
The three ropes are arranged in a triangle and made stronger by the lateral stays, thus creating a structure where tension reduces lateral oscillations, making the bridge extraordinarily stable.
Crossing the Tibetan bridge is a rare opportunity that can be safely experienced in Alta Valtellina, taking advantage of a rich natural environment on which remaining "suspended" represents a unique thrill.
The bridge is part of the glaciological trail of the Forni Glacier (created in 1995 for the centenary of the founding of the Italian Glaciological Committee), as a true access route to the glacier of the same name, where a loop circuit allows you to observe this spectacle of nature up close and learn what events and mechanisms were able to shape a valley that holds secrets, unexpected spectacles and important remnants of our history.
