Description
Chi Kung consists of standing exercises that promote the flow of energy in the body and help deepen breathing.
Chi means “power” or “energy,” and Kung means “to grasp, to take possession of,” just as babies do when encountering something new.
These exercises can be performed largely statically with slightly bent knees, or with arm movements synchronized with the breath.
The martial art Tai Chi Chuan is based on three main pillars: meditation, energy work (Chi Kung), and the Tai Chi Chuan form. A key force used in its practice is breath control. There are numerous exercises designed to bring the body into a state—both mentally and physically—that enables the practice of the martial art Tai Chi Chuan. I have selected a few of these and described them briefly. The descriptions are intended primarily to help you understand what these exercises are about.
