Strengthening the core (also known as "core training") means specifically strengthening the deep and superficial muscles between the diaphragm and hips (abdomen, back, pelvic floor) to increase core stability, improve posture, prevent back pain and increase athletic performance, as the core is the center of all movements and ensures stability and power transmission. It's not just about the abdominal muscles, but about the interaction of entire muscle chains for holistic stability and control.
