Alpendorf 3, Sankt Johann im Pongau
On the section of the "Alpendorf Panorama Trail" from the Naturhotel Gut Berg (formerly Hotel Alpenhof) to the Panorama Apartments Weitenmoos, there is an educational tree trail along which the entire Austrian tree population grows (all coniferous and deciduous trees - over 30 varieties!).
The individual tree species are presented on descriptive boards. These boards provide the hiker with information about the occurrence, the use of the type of wood, the fruits of the trees and much more. There is also general information about the tree population in Austria. A wood identification station, a "treetop mirror" and a "tree hugging station" as well as a rest area with wooden sunshades and relaxation loungers round off the educational tree trail.
The fact that the entire range of trees in Austria has grown naturally on this relatively short section of the Alpendorf panoramic hiking trail is very unusual. The descriptions of the tree species are intended to sensitize hikers to the topic of renewable raw materials and food sources. The various stations and wood identification boards make the forest habitat more "tangible" for visitors. In addition to hiking, attention is drawn to the "forest" recreational area with its oases of peace and other relaxation seating areas.
