Description
The Reith Almabtrieb in Reith im Alpbachtal is one of the largest Almabtrieb festivals in Tyrol and will take place on two Saturdays in 2026:
📅 September 19, 2026, and September 26, 2026
🐄 Starting around 12:00 p.m., the festively decorated cows make their way through the village back down into the valley.
🎶 Marching bands, alphorn players, cowbell ringers, and Tyrolean folk music provide entertainment.
🛍️ There’s a large crafts and gourmet market featuring traditional Tyrolean handicrafts.
🍽️ Visitors can sample typical Tyrolean specialties such as Kiachl, Krapfen, and regional home-style cooking.
🕙 The festival begins at 10:00 a.m. with the arrival of the marching band and a concert in the town square.
💶 Admission: €8; free for children 12 and under. Group rate for 20 or more people: €7 per person.
🌍 The festival attracts visitors from all over the world every year and offers a glimpse into old farming traditions and Tyrolean culture.
In short: A big Tyrolean folk festival celebrating the return of the cows—with music, crafts, regional food, and plenty of tradition.
