Sacred Heart Night - Skypool

The Sacred Heart fires are the most visible sign of the Sacred Heart Festival in South Tyrol. On the evening of the holiday, large crosses of fire, flames, hearts and religious symbols are lit on mountains and hills. This tradition dates back to the 18th century and symbolizes the renewal of the Sacred Heart vow. The fires are intended to express protection, faith and cohesion - and are a strong symbol of Tyrolean identity.
