Winter hike - Wimmertal


Our starting point is at the Gerlos Gmünd parking lot at the entrance to the Wimmertal valley.

From there we hike towards the Wimmertalalm at 1,370m.


Meeting point: 09:45 am entrance ALPIN LODGE (house 1)

Departure: at 10.00 am from the hotel with the hotel bus

Total distance: 6km

Altitude difference: 160m uphill, 160m downhill

Total walking time: 2h

Difficulty: easy

Refreshments: none, self-catering

Arrival at the hotel: approx. 15.00 hrs


Depending on the weather, there may be spontaneous changes, i.e. you may be forced to tackle an alternative hike. Please note below what equipment you should bring with you. Snowshoes, hiking poles and rucksacks are provided free of charge by the hotel!


Equipment for winter and snowshoe hikes:

We ask you to bring the following equipment for the tour.

- Day rucksack (approx. 25 liters)

- Hiking boots with good tread soles, good insulation against the cold, waterproof and ankle-high!

- Good ski or hiking socks

- Backpack with sufficient drinks and a snack, approx. 1 liter hot drink

in a thermos flask, muesli bars, fruit slices, etc.

- Functional jacket (wind and waterproof, breathable), winterproof trousers,

functional underwear, warming mid-layer (synthetic fiber, down), change of shirt, hat

and gloves, possibly gaiters

- Sun protection: high-quality sunglasses, sun cream (protection factor 30-50),

lip protection

- for snowshoe hikes: Snowshoes and touring poles (available at the hotel!)

- Avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel for snowshoe hikes away from secured hiking trails
