Helpful facts

The medieval castle ruin Falkenstein is located at 1267 m. In 1883, our namesake King Ludwig || acquired the castle ruins and planned to build another fairytale castle, the "Knight's Castle", in the style of Neuschwanstein Castle, in its place. Today, visualizations of the planned castle can be seen in the castle ruins. Below the ruin is the castle hotel Falkenstein and the hotel Schlossanger Alp. First you cycle on the Forggensee cycle path in the direction of Füssen. After the dam near Füssen, turn left towards Bad Faulenbach. On the right side you will see the restaurant Frühlingsgarten. Here you have to turn left towards Ländeweg and Lechfall. Here you reach a fork, where you take the path straight ahead. This leads you over a forest path to Vils. The cycle path runs directly along a small stream to Pfronten. Ride through Pfronten in the direction of Weißensee and Füssen. Directly after the ascent a road leads you high in the direction of Falkenstein. At the fork of the road turn left. Take the same road down again, whereby you come after the third curve over the forest way, which lies before you, to Weißensee. At Weißensee, take the cycle path back to Füssen. From Füssen, you can take the Forggensee cycle path back to Schwangau. Distance: 35,00 km Movement time: 2:15:00 Altitude difference: 583 m
