In his symphonic poem “Fontane di Roma,” the Italian composer Respighi expresses the feelings evoked in him by four distinctive fountains in Rome at different times of day. He translates his impressions into atmospherically dazzling musical images and masterfully colors them in an impressionistic style. The Spaniard Rodrigo owes his fame solely to the famous Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra, which he named after the former summer residence of the Spanish kings in Aranjuez and in which he pays tribute to Spanish flamenco.\n\nThe journey continues to Paris, where the French composer Bizet, then just 17 years old, wrote his Symphony in C major in 1855.
