Schloss Krugsdorf
Since summer 2020, the "floating museum", UCRA - The Pommern Cog, which is also used for history education and youth work, has been sailing from Ueckermünde. This unique highlight of the Uecker-Randow region should not be missed by anyone interested in history.
After several years of construction, the ship was transported overland from the "Ukranenland - Historische Werkstätten" shipyard in Torgelow to the Szczecin Lagoon on 31.08.2014, dropped anchor in the port of Ueckermünde and continued to be built there. On October 17, 2015, the time had come - the Pommernkogge was christened "UCRA".
After approval as a traditional ship, the replica of the Hanseatic cog with a displacement of 150 tons was ceremoniously put into service on 30 July 2020.
The ship is owned by the town of Torgelow, which worked with many partners and funding bodies over 18 years to bring this unique project to life. The traditional ship association "UCRA - Die Pommernkogge e.V." operates the cog.
Children's and youth groups in particular, as part of historical project days, but also adult sailors can set sail from Ueckermünde on this 25-metre-long "floating museum" in the wake of the Hanseatic League and learn about the Hanseatic era and maritime-historical cog building techniques, as well as experience sailing the traditional ship as a temporary crew member.
Tickets for cruises with the UCRA on the Szczecin Lagoon are available at the town information offices in Torgelow and Ueckermünde, directly on board and online:
