Baroque Master Builder Museum Au

Damüls 216
In Au in the Bregenzerwald, Michael Beer founded the Auer guild in 1657. Its members planned and built around 800 baroque buildings in Central Europe up until the 1780s. How did the Auer guild come to be founded in this remote village? Who was responsible for training the planners and builders? How was the guild organized? How did the village change at a time when the men were on building sites for more than half a year and the women were left to their own devices at home? The Baroque Master Builders Museum in Au sheds light on these questions in four themed areas.
