🌄 Here’s what awaits you:
The Altfasstal in Meransen is one of the most beautiful and kid-friendly hikes in the region. The wide, almost flat trail leads along the Großbergbach stream through forests and alpine meadows and is ideal for families—even those with strollers. Along the way, you’ll find Kneipp stations, wooden bridges, and plenty of space to play and explore. This sunny and peaceful route offers magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and is perfect for a relaxing day in nature.
🥾 The Hike:
You can start right at the Margit Mountain Hut or conveniently from the Altfasstal parking lot (1,606 m) at the valley entrance. From there, follow the well-marked trail at a leisurely pace to the end of the valley. After about 1.5 hours, you’ll reach the two family-friendly huts, the Pranter-Stadlhütte and the Wieserhütte. Even before that, the Großberghütte (1,638 m) invites you to take your first leisurely break. 🍽️
👨👩👧 Who is this hike suitable for?

💡 Our tip:
The hike is especially beautiful on sunny mornings when it’s still pleasantly quiet in the valley. Be sure to allow enough time for short breaks by the water, for playing on the alpine pastures, and for a leisurely stop at a local inn. The return trip follows the same easy route back to the starting point. 🌲
