Details

The Altfasstal valley in Meransen is one of the most beautiful and child-friendly hikes in the region. The wide, almost flat forest path runs along the Großbergbach stream and is ideal for families - even with baby carriages.

The hike starts directly from the Mountain Lodge Margit or, more practically, from the Altfasstal parking lot (1,606 m) at the entrance to the valley. From there, the well-signposted trail leads through forest and alpine meadows to the end of the valley. After around 1.5 hours, you will reach the two family-friendly refreshment stops: the Pranter-Stadlhütte with its large adventure playground and the Wieserhütte, both ideal for a leisurely break.

Before that, the Großberghütte (1,638 m) invites you to stop off - ideal for a first break.

Along the way, Kneipp stations, wooden bridges and wide alpine pastures invite you to play and explore. The trail is quiet, sunny and offers wonderful views of the surrounding mountains - perfect for a relaxing family day. For the way back, take the same leisurely route back to the starting point.
