Sassolungo circumnavigation

Hiking at the foot of Sassolungo, Plattkoel and Grohman.

From the Alpenrose we first go by car to Campitello where we take the cable car to Col Rodella 2.240 m and then go up with the basket lift to the Toni Demetz hut 2681 m. Our hike begins with the descent through the Langkofelscharte to the Langkofelhütte 2253 m, where we take a short break. From the northwest foot of the Sassolungo on the level trail under the Sassolungo walls we continue to the Emilio Comici hut 2153 m. Now on path 526 southwards through a sparse pine forest and through meadows almost flat under the eastern face of the Sassolungo to the boulders of the "Stone City", back to the Sella Pass house and up to the cable car from Col Rodella with which we then descend again to Campitello.

Moderately difficult hike - good surefootedness and good physical condition required

Ticket for cable car and basket lift required (against payment)
