Description
The hike from Achenkirch to Steinberg am Rofan via the Köglalm and the Kögljoch is a scenic route. It leads from the idyllic Achensee directly to the quiet mountaineering village of Steinberg am Rofan.
From Achenkirch, the trail leads up the hiking path to the Kögelalm at an elevation of 1,428 hm. From the alpine pasture, the trail continues uphill for a short distance along switchbacks to the Kögljoch (1,487 m), the highest point of this hike. Up here, we leave the immediate vicinity of Lake Achensee and hike into the secluded mountain world of the Brandenberger Alps (Rofan). The descent leads via the Schönjochalm at 1,287 hm down to the mountaineering village of Steinberg am Rofan. From there, we take the hotel shuttle back to Lake Achen.
