In winter, the mountain hut is a popular meeting point and starting point for a variety of ski tours, snowshoe and winter hikes amidst the three thousand meter peaks in the Langtauferer Valley.

At the weekend, a drag lift is in operation next to the hut, which runs alongside the groomed piste.

Route description winter hike

400 vertical meters | 6.4 km

From Kappl we walk to the former valley station, cross the Karlinbach stream there and follow road no. 15 on the left for about 600 meters, then we keep right on the path marked 19, via the forest road we ascend through Zirmwald, past the Masebener Alm and the T-bar lift and reach the Maseben mountain hut.

The hut can be reached on foot with good footwear as well as with snowshoes and touring skis. In the mountain hut at 2,267m, a warming wood-burning stove or a sun terrace awaits you. The ski slope from the hut to the parking lot is groomed for the descent. The forest path is suitable for descending on foot or for tobogganing (free rental at the hotel)

How to get there:

By car from the hotel about 9 km into the valley, past hamlets and farmsteads, directly to Kappl. After the hamlet "Hinterkirch" to the paid parking lot.
