Cattle market in Buching

The Alpabtrieb in Buching is a relatively small Alpabtrieb with a family atmosphere. It is the only one in the Allgäu where cattle are still traded by handshake. And has been for more than 300 years. This is why the event is called a cattle market and not a cattle drive.

Many visitors are drawn to the Buching cattle market every year when the decorated cattle, accompanied by outriders and the Buching band, enter the market square at 9:30 am.

As a special feature in Buching, unlike in other places, all the animals are decorated. It's worth getting there early to secure a good spot at the side of the road.

In addition to the beer tent with musical entertainment, there is also a grocer's market where traders offer regional goods.

On Saturday, 13.09.25 there will be a festival tent with brass band music, dancing and regional cuisine from 7:30 pm.
