Description
The chestnut was long regarded as a "bread tree", which mainly served as food for the poorer people. In the Eisack Valley, the chestnut still has a special significance today, and the "Keschtnweg", which starts at the Neustift monastery and stretches a total of 90 km to Vilpian, is known far beyond Brixen. Our hike starts in Klausen and takes us to Säben Monastery and then further along the Keschtnweg trail to Felthurns. We can stop for refreshments at Buschenschank Huber (not included) before visiting Velthurns Castle (admission €6.00, to be paid on site; children accompanied by an adult free of charge).
