In recent years, the “Picnic in White” has evolved from an insider’s tip into a popular summer tradition that is a big hit with both locals and visitors alike. That’s why it’s held every year. White is a must. Especially in Oberstaufen. A long banquet table made up of provided tables and benches sets the scene for this popular social event featuring live music.
Admission to the “Picnic in White”—modeled after the French “Dîner en Blanc”—is free. Surrounded by nature and under the open sky, it’s the perfect way to enjoy a summer night with enchanting music and lighting.
The Picnic in White begins at 6 p.m. with participants arriving at a leisurely pace, unpacking the delicacies they’ve brought, and the first notes of music echoing across the small pond in Oberstaufen PARK.
This year’s musical accompaniment is provided by Leonie Leuchtenmüller, with Andreas Schütz on electric piano and Magnus Dauner on drums. Leonie says of herself and her music: “I love the power of emotional songs! My songs are all ‘real’ and reflect defining moments in my life.” Her songs sometimes sound tentatively narrative, other times boldly confessional; through the blending of German and English lyrics, she blurs both linguistic and stylistic boundaries. The range extends from lyrical pop ballads to flirty soul arrangements. Leonie likes to add selected songs by well-known artists to her own repertoire, making them her own and blending them into her sonic universe.
