When using the stove, please always remember to open the slider at the beginning. In the picture you can see how it should be positioned so that it is open - vertically. As soon as there is only coal left, you can close it in a horizontal position to retain the heat.

Always light the fire from top to bottom. If the fire needs air, you can simply open the slider under the stove door.
