Tyrol has a particularly high diversity of species and habitats due to its geographical location, its topography and its different altitude levels. However, Tyrol's diversity of species and habitats is also subject to an increasing decline, which can only be counteracted in the long term through appropriate measures.
Nature conservation instruments such as the designation of protected areas or biotope protection have been used successfully in Tyrol for decades to ensure the preservation of endangered species. In addition, there are a number of targeted measures aimed at protecting individual animal and plant species, such as bat conservation in Tyrol.
