Kreuzgasse 9, Tschagguns
The end of the summer retreat
The procession of decorated animals - sometimes including sheep, goats and donkeys, the so-called "Piefl" - is awaited with food and drink, and in some places also with musical accompaniment. The "Milchstöfleri" - the cow that has produced the most milk over the summer - is given a particularly warm welcome at many alpine cattle drives. It is easily recognizable by the most beautiful and largest "Maien", the flower decoration. The exact time of the cattle drive depends on the weather. In the event of early snowfall, they can also be brought forward at short notice.
