Tour description:

The starting point is the Hotel Alpenhof in St. Jakob in the Defereggental valley. The mountain bike ride takes you at a leisurely pace along the forest trail toward Gasserkofel and on to the Seespitzhütte (2,327 m). There, we’ll park the bikes and follow the marked hiking trail through alpine meadows and up a short steep section to the impressive Oberseitsee (2,576 m). The crystal-clear mountain lake lies in a wide cirque below the Seespitze and, with its unique high-mountain backdrop, invites you to take a well-deserved break. Afterward, you’ll descend to the Seespitzhütte and bike back along the same route to the Alpenhof.

Tip: A stop at the Seespitzhütte is ideal for a bite to eat before continuing on to the lake or as a leisurely way to wrap up the hike. From the hut’s terrace, you can enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the Defereggental valley.
