On this varied loop hike, you’ll learn fascinating facts about the history and unique characteristics of the Montafon stone sheep—a regional breed that was once threatened with extinction. From the center of St. Gallenkirch, the trail leads you gently uphill through forests to beautiful viewpoints above the village and on through a diverse cultural landscape. An encounter with the Steinschaf sheep is almost guaranteed. Additionally, at the end of the hike, you can visit the Mathies Steinschaf Farm in St. Gallenkirch to gain deeper insights.
