Helpful facts

The Maranatha Nativity Museum in Luttach was born out of an ingenious vision of the Gartner family. The word Maranatha is an Aramaic exclamation that was probably used by early Christians. Possible meanings are: "Our Lord has come" (maran atha) or "Our Lord will come" or - more likely - "Our Lord, come!".

Maranatha, Europe's most imaginative crib world, was opened in Luttach in 2000 after four years of construction. Since then, the museum has been continuously expanded. The outdoor area, visions for folk art and nativity scenes, as well as the sculptor's workshop, have been completely renovated and redesigned. Works of art from different countries are displayed in the flower garden and over 1,300 square meters of exhibition space. If you take your time and observe carefully, you can experience the evolution of carving from the beginnings of toolmaking, through root and mask carving, to today's modern sculpture in the Aurina Valley.
