Hike to the chapel of St. Valentin in the Zillergrund Nature Park

Starting point parking lot at the Bärenbadalm:

The Zillergrund can be reached via a toll road (the Zillergrund Alpenstraße), which leads to the parking lot at the Bärenbadalm at the end.

From the parking lot in front of the Zillergrund reservoir dam, a challenging but very scenic hike leads to the St. Valentin chapel at 2,275 m above sea level. The tour requires surefootedness and rewards you with magnificent views of the reservoir and the Zillertal Alps.

Character: Challenging, requires good fitness and alpine experience.

Difference in altitude: approx. 800 meters in ascent.

Walking time (pure walking time): Approx. 4.5 hours.

Refreshment options: Alpengasthaus Adlerblick at the dam wall or the Bärenbadalm, which you reach again at the end of the tour.

Special features: The steep ascent leads through avalanche barriers. The chapel itself is decorated with a colorful mosaic window.

Tip: Pay attention to the opening hours of the restaurants and the current trail conditions. The tour is only suitable for experienced hikers.
