Helpful facts

Mountain hike on primeval paths from Prad to Stilfs in the Stilfser Joch National Park.

The meeting point for this tour is the large parking lot at the sports field in Goldrain. We drive together to Prad in our own car and start the hike a little above Prad on an old pilgrims' path. Along the way, we repeatedly encounter witnesses of a bygone era. On the Wormisionsteig trail, you can still see the old tracks of carts that connected the Lombard Valtellina Valley with the Venosta Valley via the Stelvio Pass, some of which we follow to the prehistoric settlement of "Gaschlin". On the slope, this leads us through a sun-exposed landscape of mixed forests, deeper and deeper into the Trafoi Valley. The snow-covered peaks and glaciers of the Ortler group tower up in front of us, the small hamlets in the valley and the mountain village of Stilfs, which clings to the slope like a swallow's nest and has a unique settlement structure. Once we arrive in Stilfs, we will take a break and enjoy some refreshments (from our own rucksack). We then descend a little steeply at first to the Agumser Bergkwaal, which leads us up and down again out of the valley to the starting point of this tour.
