From Lech to Lake Formarin | To the source of the Lech River
The long-distance hiking trail "Lechweg" describes the way from the source of the Lech to the fall in Füssen. In any case, it is worthwhile to hike the first stage in the opposite direction. This way you get from the center of Lech to the source of the Lech at the Formarinsee. The most beautiful place in Austria 2015 is thus the destination of this hike.
The hike starts in the hiking village of Lech. From there it goes directly along the mighty mountain stream to the district of Zug. Further and further into the valley, the Lechweg long-distance hiking trail, which is certified as a "Leading Quality Trail of Europe", leads to the Älpele, a small alpine pasture with refreshment facilities. Then follows the most beautiful part of the Lechweg: the wooden footbridges directly at the junction of Formarinbach and Spullerbach, the place where, the Lech is born as a stream. Over stones and roots, the Lechweg continues past cascades and bubbling springs across green, lush mountain meadows to its beginning, which is marked by a bronze ibex statue. At the end of this dreamlike hike, the Formarinsee lake with its brilliant blue awaits the hikers as a rewarding destination for the day. The blue local bus Lech finally leads from there back to the hiking village.
