Geigenbühelstraße 203, Seefeld in Tirol
Hike to the Rotmoosalm
The ascent to the Rotmoosalm begins at the end of the P5 Salzbach parking lot. There are two options here: To the left, across the bridge, lies the wide forest road, but for this hike we’ll take the narrow trail that starts to the right of the parking lot.
The trail follows the Jägersteig and continues along the Rigelesteig, climbing steadily through the rustic mountain landscape. The narrow path winds its way uphill, sometimes steeply, always alongside the babbling Salzbach stream, until it finally reaches the Schäferhütte. Here, a beautiful spot invites you to take a well-deserved break—with a magnificent view over the Gaistal valley and the surrounding mountain landscape.
From here, the route continues toward Schönberg and finally to the Rotmoosalm, which lies idyllically amidst the alpine landscape. The alpine pasture offers not only a cozy place to stop for a break but also an impressive view of the vast alpine meadows of the Gaistal and the imposing peaks of the Mieminger Kette, the Wetterstein Mountains, and the Hohe Munde.
After a relaxing break, the return route follows the same trail back down into the valley. A varied tour that delights with narrow, natural paths, beautiful views, and a genuine alpine atmosphere.
