It would be a shame if our traditions were to fade into oblivion, wouldn’t it?

The Sagamundo – House of Storytelling – team invites children and teens to help prevent that from happening.

On December 28, the “Day of the Holy Innocents,” children used to traditionally walk through town to “piesnen” with a branch.

During this tradition, they express wishes for good luck and blessings for the new year.

Here (as attached) are further details about the event:

We’ll meet on Sunday, December 28, at 7:30 a.m. at Sagamundo – House of Storytelling for a short rehearsal. Before we get started, there will be a light breakfast to fuel us up.

Afterward, we’ll head out to visit local businesses and offer wishes of good luck and blessings to everyone we meet along the way.

But only until noon, because according to old tradition, it’s not “allowed” to continue any longer. (Event lasts until about 11:30 a.m.) By the way, the children are very happy to receive a few “Kreuzer.”

Ideally, you’ll already know this rhyme by heart:

“Fresh and healthy, fresh and healthy, live long, stay healthy, don’t complain, don’t whine, until I come back again!

The Christ Child with golden hair wishes you a happy new year!”

You’ll receive a green branch from us, and before we start, there’ll be a light breakfast to give you energy—and, of course, a small token of appreciation for your participation.
