The Salzach rises near Krimml in the Upper Pinzgau, flows through the Pinzgau, Pongau, Tennengau, in the Flachgau through the city of Salzburg and on into the province of Upper Austria and along the Austria/Germany state border to Passau, where it flows into the Danube. In summer, the Tauern Cycle Path leads along the Salzach from Krimml to Passau. The section near Sankt Johann is called the "Sagenhafter Tauernradweg". Along this stretch, various legends can be discovered.
There are plenty of places to stop for refreshments along these paths. If you dare to take a little detour, you will surely come across a cozy pub.
