Ossiachersee Süduferstraße 241, Villach
Hike through the wild gorge!
The Ossiacher Schluchtweg is one of the most beautiful nature hikes around Lake Ossiach. The varied tour leads along the Rappitschbach stream through a romantic gorge up to the idyllic Ossiacher Tauernteich pond. Small bridges, mossy rocks, wooden footbridges and the rushing water make the hike particularly atmospheric - especially on warm summer days, the gorge provides pleasant cooling.
The first section of the trail is a little steeper and requires good footwear and surefootedness. The route then becomes more leisurely and leads through peaceful forests to the Tauern pond, where it is worth taking a relaxing break. The hike is particularly beautiful in the morning when the gorge is still cool and shady. With a bit of luck, you might even spot fire salamanders along the way.
