The Pfitscher Joch is a gentle transition between the Zillertal and Pfitscher Tal valleys in South Tyrol. Countless migratory birds also use this route when they fly to their wintering grounds in the south in the fall. A team of researchers has been operating a small observation station on the Joch for several years. After a "soft landing" in the nets, migratory birds are identified, examined and ringed before they continue their journey south. Many exciting stories await us on the way to the Joch, for example about smuggling between Austria and Italy or about the Stone Age. Even back then, people discovered and used the landscape around the Joch plateau. The exciting "pfitscherjoch grenzenlos" exhibition at the Lavitzalm takes up this and more. After a leisurely stop at the Pfitscher Joch house, we hike back to the Schlegeis reservoir.
