Ossiachersee Süduferstraße 241, Villach
Panoramic Road to the Dobratsch!
The Villach Alpine Road is one of Carinthia’s most scenic routes, winding its way 16.5 kilometers up to the Dobratsch, Villach’s local mountain. With seven hairpin turns and numerous curves, the scenic road climbs approximately 1,200 meters in elevation, offering ever-changing, breathtaking views of Carinthia’s lake landscape, the Karawanken Mountains, and the Julian Alps in Austria, Italy, and Slovenia.
Along the route, several lookouts, hiking trails, and interactive stations invite you to linger. A special highlight is the “Rote Wand” skywalk, a spectacular viewing platform that hovers about 400 meters above a steep rock face and offers a unique view into the depths. Equally worth seeing is the Villacher Alpe Alpine Garden, where over 800 species of alpine plants from various climate zones grow across approximately 10,000 m².
