Details

The historical landmark Oberammergau dates back to 1634, when the villagers took an oath to perform the Passion of Jesus as a theater every 10 years, if they were spared the plague in return. Oberammergau was spared, and so the impressive open-air stage "Passion Theater" was built. Architecturally, as well as historically and culturally a highlight.
