Dorf 166, Alpbach
The sacral museum of Tyrol...
...The museum is unique in the buildings of the former Augustinian and later Servite monastery, which existed from 1384 to 1971. The Augustinian Museum was only opened in 1993 and is very popular and I now know why...
The collections display Tyrolean art treasures from nine centuries. These include exquisite masterpieces from the Romanesque and Gothic periods as well as numerous examples of religious folk art.
The cultural and historical objects from the region as well as a collection of rare Gothic sculptures are well worth a visit. The Augustiner Museum was awarded the Tyrolean Museum Prize in 2005 and the Austrian Museum Prize in 1994.
