Family Hike: “Moor Nature Trail” to the Schrofenalm with Conny

The Moorlehr/Nature Trail is located at 1,800 meters above sea level, along the hiking trail that winds through alpine meadows and marshlands from the Penken to the Schrofenalm.

We’ll take the bus to Finkenberg and then ride the gondola up to the Penken. From there, we’ll follow

the Moorlehr Trail toward the Schrofenalm.

Here, we’ll take a short break to enjoy the breathtaking view of the Hintertux Glacier. Afterward, we’ll head back to the hotel.

Tour description:

Wetland habitats such as fens along the Moor Nature Trail, which were formed by waterlogging, are among Austria’s endangered habitats. Fens are primarily influenced by the topography and the mineral soil. Due to the slate and limestone subsoil, a diverse mix of calcareous and silicate indicator plants can be found on the Penken. Over 23 Red List species and 6 protected species have been identified along the nature trail. Informative display boards not only provide information about the very typical biodiversity of the lowland bog and its protected plants, but also detail the species-rich wildlife found there.
