The museum is the only one in the world that revolves around the life and work of the ICRC's initiator. Henry Dunant spent the last 18 years of his life in Heiden, where he lived as a pensioner in a room in the hospital. The museum dedicated to him is housed in the same building. The permanent exhibition provides biographical and historical information as well as objects from Dunant's estate, inviting visitors to explore this enigmatic personality. In addition, the "Peace Bell" from Nagasaki can be seen outside, integrated in an installation by the artist Lucie Schenker.
