Details

The grounds around the Marienberg, a total of 60 acres, were acquired by Professor Tormin in 1907. The co-architect of the Berlin subway and geology professor laid out the park with 32 tree species and a fish pond and built his villa.

In 1925, the Protestant Protection Association for the Chorin Monastery bought the buildings and Tormin Park. The Association of German Protestant Welfare Nurses converted the villa and the gardener's house into a convalescent home, "Haus Chorin". In 1930, the then director Countess Berta von der Schulenburg also built the "Schwedenhaus". A house with 14 rooms, a bathroom, central heating and running water in every room.

In 1936, the dining room, today's a la carte restaurant, was added to the villa. The BDM was in the Schwedenhaus until 1945. Immediately after the war, Silesian refugees were taken in.

In 1947, Haus Chorin once again became a recreation home for the Inner Mission. After the Wall was built in 1961, the Landesausschuss für Innere Mission Potsdam took over the management of the rest home. Only church retreats, church conferences and holidaymakers from the church were now guests at Haus Chorin.

The farmhouse was completely modernized through extensive construction work in 1985/86 and the Schwedenhaus in 1987. In 1980, a tree fell on the bungalow, which was built in 1964, during a storm, so that permission could be granted to build the new house on the hillside.

With the fall of communism in 1989, everything changed. The houses, which had all been modernized to a good GDR standard by that year, no longer met the requirements in any way. The new houses were rebuilt and equipped with showers and toilets in every room in the winter of 1990. In 1993, modern furnishings were installed in all rooms. At this time, the vacation and conference center Haus Chorin had 41 beds in 22 rooms, a sauna, as well as conference and recreation rooms, a sunbathing lawn, playground, rowing boat and bicycles. And the church's first restaurant in the state of Brandenburg became famous for its regional home cooking.

The new hotel building, which opened on 01.05.1996, fundamentally changed the previous structure of Haus Chorin. Today, Haus Chorin is a hotel that meets the requirements of a modern conference venue. As a vacation resort for individual guests or as a destination for groups, the hotel "Haus Chorin" offers many possibilities for organization. Thanks to its movable walls within the 300 m² conference area, it can be adapted to a wide variety of conference sizes. The bowling alley is communicative and sporty for individual leisure activities.

The first and only honey specialty restaurant "Immenstube" was awarded in 2000 as the restaurant with the most innovative concept in the state of Brandenburg by the Ministry. Guests can experience and learn all about honey. All dishes are prepared with honey. The "Haus Chorin" hotel looks back on a long tradition and looks forward to a promising future.
