It’s always a special experience when the Hoch- und Deutschmeister Band from Vienna performs. It uniquely represents the tradition of Austro-Hungarian military music. Its defining feature is above all the distinctive sound of its instruments—they play on instruments that are rarely used today, such as the E-flat trumpet, rotary-valve trombones, bass trumpet, and helicon, all tuned to a higher pitch—and the ensemble playing of a close-knit community of musicians. Soprano Nadja Plattner will also be joining them this time.
