Weisskugelhütte 2,544m

This wonderful hike leads from the Melag parking lot to the Weisskugelhütte and on the way back to the Melager Alm. From the parking lot, you first head into the valley towards Melager Alm, approx. 300 meters after Melag at the crossroads, hiking trail no. 3 leads towards Schafberghütte. This is followed by a short, crisp ascent of around 180 meters in altitude. After a rest at the upper cross, follow the moderately ascending trail no. 3 to the Schafberghütte (2,354 m). Now follow trail no. 1A to the rustic Weißkugelhütte. Once at the top, you will be rewarded with magnificent views of the Weißkugel glacier, the Bärenbartkogel, the Freibrunnerspitze and the Langtauferer Spitze. The descent is via trail no. 2, along the serpentines to the Karlinbach stream. Return to Melag via the flat valley floor past the Melager Alm.
