Village Appenzell

Take the train to Appenzell and stroll through the romantic town center. Let yourself be enchanted by the Christmas lights and enjoy a piece of cake and a hot chocolate in one of the small, typical Appenzell cafés (Konditorei/Confiserie/Hotel Appenzell) for a little refreshment in between. Take the train back to Gontenbad. From there you walk through the wintry hills to Gonten (duration: approx. 1 hour 15 minutes; unprepared footpath). Alternatively, you can take a romantic snowshoe hike through the Appenzell hills if there is snow.
