Mühlbach am Hochkönig 425, Mühlbach am Hochkönig
The Mozart residence was reconstructed after its destruction during World War II and reopened in 1996. The biographies of the family members and the authentic impressions of the family's everyday life fill the house with their spirit to this day and allow the visitor to experience Mozart anew.
Exhibition
The building, which was largely destroyed during World War II, was faithfully reconstructed and reopened in 1996 as the second Mozart Museum.
The house offered the Mozart family from 1773 with an eight-room apartment on the second floor, a spacious ambience. Wolfgang Amadeus lived here until the beginning of 1781, his final departure for Vienna.
In the spacious rooms, original documents and portraits document the history of the house, Mozart's compositional work during his Salzburg years, and the social environment of the Mozart family. Special attractions are Mozart's original fortepiano and the famous family portrait in the "Tanzmeistersaal".
The women around Mozart, in particular his sister Nannerl, the Bölzlschießen, a favorite pastime of the Mozarts, and their travels are the subject of separate sections.
A multi-vision show about Mozart's life and his Salzburg environment concludes the museum tour.
