HOTEL NIEDERSACHSEN, Margarethenstraße 5, 25980, Sylt
Nestled amid the beautiful natural surroundings of the Tinnum meadows lies the Tinnum Animal Park, which is home to over 400 native and exotic animals on more than 30,000 square meters. Together with a diverse array of flowers and trees, the Christiansen family’s zoo forms a little paradise on Sylt, where visitors can comfortably unwind from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
A special attraction of the zoo is its pond with colorful pedal boats. The pedal boats are moored at a small wooden dock and can be used by visitors at any time, as pedal boating is already included in the admission price.
The activities for children on the beautiful, well-maintained, and spacious grounds are rounded out by a playground, a large bouncy castle, and a small, nostalgic carousel. The zoo is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from April/Easter through October.
The zoo is closed from November through March.
Native animals such as fallow deer, red deer, sheep, donkeys, ponies, storks, and guinea pigs are just as impressive as their exotic counterparts, such as flamingos, parrots, and alpacas. The colorful birdlife at Tinnum Zoo is also not to be missed: from pigeons, ducks, hoopoes, oystercatchers, and cranes to peacocks, eagle owls, and snowy owls—every bird with a thick coat of feathers is represented, and it’s not just the young visitors who are amazed.
It goes without saying that the cute baby animals attract special interest from zoo visitors. That’s why a visit is especially recommended in early summer, when many of the zoo’s residents have just welcomed new arrivals.
To protect the zoo’s animals, dogs are not allowed!
