**The Mountaincart track in Gargellen will be closed for approximately 10 days starting Sunday, July 19, 2026, because grazing livestock are on the track. Mountaincarts are expected to resume operation on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
Bookings are available starting at 7:00 a.m. on the respective day.**
Fun on 3 wheels
You’ve been hiking all day, stopped for a break at the Schafberg Hüsli, your legs are tired, and you don’t necessarily want to take the train back down to the valley? Then the Mountaincart is just the thing for you! Almost like a go-kart—only on three wheels and without a motor—you’ll ride down from the mountain station along the forest trails into the valley. Safe driving fun is guaranteed!
Take your time—time to ride!
Mountaincart rentals and reservations are available at the top station of the 8EUB Schafbergbahn, which is also the starting point of the 6-km-long route. Our staff at the PME Sports Shop will briefly familiarize you with the “rules of the game” and the Mountaincart at the Schafberg Hüsli. They’ll also equip you with the appropriate safety gear. Then you’re all set to go.
The track runs along the forest road all the way down to the valley station. Would you like to know just how fast you’re going on the Mountaincart?—No problem! The speed check installed along the track will tell you. Once you reach the bottom, it’s time to “smile for the camera!”. Photos for your vacation or family album are available at the PME Sports Shop.
Children under 140 cm in height may only ride with an adult
Children aged 10 and older who are at least 140 cm tall may ride a Mountaincart on their own, but only in the presence of an adult or legal guardian
If an adult and a child are riding together on a Mountaincart, it is recommended to select a larger cart when booking

Hours of Operation
June 12 through October 11, 2026 | Departures hourly between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
July 25 July through August 23, 2026 | Departures every hour between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
