Bormio is famous for its thermal waters and skiing, but it also offers very exciting possibilities for lovers of ' icefall climbing. A first exploratory campaign took place in the early 1980s, mainly thanks to mountain guides Eraldo Meraldi and Adriano Greco.
Being a wide area it has many valleys, within which icefalls are formed, the main ones are: the Valle del Braulio, Valle dei Forni, Cancano and Val di Rezzalo.
