Auweg 3, Sölden
What drove people into the high mountains immediately after the ice melted around 10,000 years ago? What traces did they leave behind in Ötztal over the millennia? The area around Obergurgl harbors astonishingly rich archaeological treasures. The circular hiking trail leads past the "Beilstein" site, which was used as a resting place by Stone Age hunters over 9,000 years ago. The Beilstein is one of the best-studied sites in the high alpine region of the Alps. Trilingual copper plaques provide detailed information on historical contexts in the region - a fascinating journey into the past around Gurgl.
