Anglöckler at the Sonnberghof estate

The "Anglöckeln" in Mittersill is a

traditional custom in the Advent season,

in which groups (often dressed as shepherds) go from door to door,

to announce the birth of Christ with songs,

to announce the birth of Christ with songs, poems and blessings

and to ask for small gifts - a very local tradition,

which is particularly practiced on the so-called "Klöpfelnächte",

the three Thursdays before Christmas, in Pinzgau and

thus also in Mittersill.
