22 Years of the Hintertux Park Opening: When winter finally begins again

Some things never change—and that’s exactly what makes them special. For 22 years now, the Hintertux Park Opening at the Hintertux Glacier has marked the official start of the new winter season for the freestyle community. From October 2–4, 2026, Hintertux will once again become the meeting place for the European snowboard and freeski scene—for the first big reunion after summer, plenty of progression, and a weekend full of park action.

The spotlight is on the Betterpark Hintertux—one of Europe’s most important early-season parks. Jumps, rails, and creative transfers offer perfect conditions for pros, rookies, and everyone in between.

The program delivers everything a real opening needs: Werni Stock is once again hosting the “Transfer Games”; at the “Kids Shred” with Gigi Rüf, the youngest riders will make their first memories of the new season; and at the open Rock A Rail qualifier, snowboarders and freeskiers will compete for a spot in the grand finale at the valley station. That’s where the Rock A Rail Tour 2026 will finally kick into high gear this fall.

Add to that on-snow tests with the brands’ latest products, the traditional Movie Night, and long nights at the Hohenhaus Tenne—exactly the mix of snowboarding, friendships, and shared memories that has made the Hintertux Park Opening special for 22 years.
